Step 1 — Learn
Chester Step Test Online Training Seminar
Develop your understanding of the Chester Step Test directly through training led by Professor Kevin Sykes.
The online seminar takes you through the principles and practical application of the Chester Step Test, including test preparation, administration, physiological responses, monitoring, safety and interpretation.
The seminar is divided into nine modules and can be completed at your own pace.
You’ll also receive lifetime access, allowing you to return to the training whenever you need a refresher.
Step 2 — Demonstrate
Practitioner Competency Assessment
Once you have completed the training, progress to the Chester Step Test Practitioner Competency Assessment.
Rather than simply testing your ability to remember facts, the assessment is designed to explore how you would apply the Chester Step Test methodology in practice.
You’ll be asked a series of oral and scenario-based questions covering areas such as:
- Preparing a participant for testing
- Selecting the appropriate step height
- Correct test administration
- Monitoring heart rate and perceived exertion
